Training and Technical Assistance for the Field
overview
Training, Technical Assistance, and Convening: YDI can respond to requests for assistance from communities, schools, and other organizations as well as partnerships among organizations. Depending on the request, this work might include training, technical assistance, convening practitioners, designing programs, or organizational development. YDI draws from the work described in this website and can develop training and other assistance to address these areas as well as any other related areas. YDI can provide coaching and/or training to supervisors, principals, line staff, and teachers. While this work is tailored to the needs of each particular organization, it usually includes some components of the advancing youth development curriculum.
Examples of Technical Assistance Content Areas
- Advancing Youth Development Training Curriculum
In this 2 - 3 day training, participants become familiar with the youth development framework and understand the ways in which the framework can be applied to their work with young people. Supervisors meet with staff during the final day of training to review and discuss staff plans to integrate youth development principles into current program and continued professional development.
Advancing Youth Development Curriculum Outline
- Foundations of Youth Development
This ½ day session focuses on the fundamentals of youth development including key concepts, youth outcomes, factors that foster resiliency, and youth participation and engagement.
- Supervising Youth Development Practice
This curriculum is designed to support supervisors in the application of youth development in programs including the supervision of youth workers. It is built around outcome-based planning in program design and implementation. YDI assists supervisors to support the application of AYD in programs and follows up with on-site observations and debriefing sessions with supervisors.
