YDI contracts individually with community-based, multi-service and national organizations, and with government agencies to design new initiatives and support existing programs through our capacity building services. We tailor these engagements to the needs of our individual clients, providing a mix of training, coaching, and peer learning opportunities to promote strong youth development practice and high-quality, effective programming. We work across the youth-serving field in areas including education, college access, workforce development, juvenile justice, youth leadership, foster care, out-of-school time, literacy, and more.
Some of our current fee-for-service clients include:
STRIVE: Our work with STRIVE began in 2013 when they engaged YDI to adapt their successful workforce development model for youth participants n their NYC program. In 2015, YDI was invited to work with the organization’s national office to develop and implement a new curriculum for justice-involved youth. Through a year-long planning process, the STRIVE Future Leaders program was born. STRIVE Future Leaders supports young adults between the ages of 18-24 who have been involved in the justice system with case management, education opportunities, and job readiness training. YDI continues to support implementation of the Future Leaders program, which now operates in 10 sites across the country, through staff development, content enhancements, and ongoing model revision. YDI also facilitates integration of the Algorithm Hello Insight assessment platform with local program sites to enable measurement of youth development program impact.
OCSS: YDI is supporting the Office of Child Support Services within the New York City Human Resources Administration in the development of a new intake model for the agency that will embody a youth-friendly approach and reflect the agency’s move away from enforcement and toward support and family building. Through a facilitated planning process, YDI is assisting OCSS to create a program model that will support young parents to more successfully navigate the child support system, better provide for their children, and co-parent more effectively.
Youth INC. and Algorythm: Through this innovative partnership, YDI works with Youth Inc., an intermediary that helps nonprofits achieve sustainable growth, and Algorhythm, a company that provides an online evaluation platform to assist organizations in growing their data and assessment skills to measure social and emotional learning as well as other critical youth-focused outcomes. YDI supports both partners through Youth Inc.’s Metrics Program, focusing on helping organizations translate their evaluation findings into actionable and sustainable youth development practices.
Flourish Agenda: Flourish Agenda is a national nonprofit social enterprise that works with youth, schools, and youth agencies to create environments that allow young people and the adults that serve them to flourish. YDI has partnered with Flourish to co-host a Radical Healing Summit; a retreat where participants are guided through interactive lessons, experiential activities, deep reflection, and fun learning games designed to build leadership capacity and equity-based strategies for themselves and their organizations. YDI is partnering on implementation of the Summit and on the development of learning communities that will support a network of youth development leaders with training, tools, and insight that they can use to create healing and equity in their work.
Office of the Deputy Mayor for Strategic Policy Initiatives: YDI has contracted with the Deputy Mayor’s office to plan and facilitate the Disconnected Youth Task Force. The Task Force was enacted by the City Council and YDI is working closely with the DM’s office to identify target outcomes, gather critical data, and plan and facilitate the Task Force towards consensus on recommendations that will prevent disconnection and improve outcomes for youth who are out-of-school and out-of-work.
